It may not completely make up for the loss of veteran shooting guard Ray Allen, but it’ll have to do. According to reports, the Boston Celtics have agreed to a one-year deal with combo guard Leandro Barbosa, in an effort to bolster their offense coming off the bench.
Boston had previously added Jason Terry to fill the departed Allen’s old role, but now has a second body that can come in and provide an offensive spark.
Barbosa is a seasoned veteran that still has fresh legs under him, and can provide instant offense. Whether it’s handling the ball, shooting from long range or creating his own shot, his offensive ability will be a welcome addition to the Celtics backcourt.
This won’t make Barbosa a fantasy gem, but he could carve out a decent role, especially if Avery Bradley continues to have health issues (shoulders). It also could negatively impact Jason Terry’s value.
