Typically, the NBA trade deadline comes and goes with tons of fanfare and smokescreens with little actual movement taking place.
2010 is no typical year.
With perhaps the most talented crop of free agents in the history of the league set to become available in July, several teams are scrambling to try and save as much money as possible for a potential spending spree. (more…)

According to SI.com, the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings have agreed to a trade that will send Tracy McGrady, Carl Landry, and Joey Dorsey to Sacramento in exchange for Kevin Martin, Hilton Armstrong, Sergio Rodriguez, and Kenny Thomas.
Considering it had been widely reported that the Rockets were to be deciding between dealing McGrady to the Bulls or Knicks, the Kings move comes as a bit of a surprise. (more…)

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks are working out a trade that would send Tracy McGrady, Brian Cook, and Joey Dorsey to New York in exchange for Jordan Hill, Jared Jeffries, and either Al Harrington or Larry Hughes.
The reports also indicate that the Rockets and Knicks would be swapping first-round draft picks in 2011 as well, with the Knicks also shipping over a draft pick in 2012.
For New York, the incentive to do this deal is clear: it would free up about another $10 million for this summer, giving them even more cash to spend on the crop of high-profile free agents. (more…)

After reports came out suggesting that a deal sending Amare Stoudemire to Cleveland wouldn’t work because of Shaquille O’Neal or other reasons, it has now been made known by Stoudemire himself, that the star forward would not necessarily be against the trade.
However, he and the Phoenix Suns continue to weigh their options.
Here’s how it stands: (more…)
If you follow the NBA and haven’t heard by now, well, you just haven’t been paying attention.
True, the All-Star game and festivities have somewhat stolen the show in Dallas over the past three days, but Dallas has been in the news for other reasons, as well.
The Mavericks were involved in a huge deal over the weekend, marking the first big splash since the Charlotte Bobcats swung a deal for Stephen Jackson at the beginning of the season.
Dallas said good-bye to the extremely talented, yet disappointing Josh Howard, while sending veteran journey-man Drew Gooden (as well as two other players) for Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, and DeShawn Stevenson. (more…)

According to reports by Yahoo! Sports, Marcus Camby is officially a Portland Trail Blazer, as the Los Angeles Clippers swung a deal that brought in back-up point guard Steve Blake, forward Travis Outlaw, and a reported $3 million in cash.
This trade works best for Portland, who has been depending solely on veteran Juwan Howard and LaMarcus Aldridge for inside scoring and defense, ever since losing Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla for the season. (more…)

With the NBA’s trade deadline just under a week away, rumors of potential trades are seemingly increasing by the hour.
One team at the forefront of several different trade winds is the Washington Wizards.
The Wizards, at a dismal 17-33 entering the All-Star Break, possess several different tradable parts that are clearly appealing to various teams throughout the league.
After entering the season with high hopes, Washington’s already-slim playoff aspirations were all but derailed by the gun fiasco involving franchise centerpiece Gilbert Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton. (more…)

With the All-Star break just around the corner, the NBA grind is over halfway completed. The Cleveland Cavaliers are now in a position eerily similar to where they were last year at this point.
Steam-rolling through the vast majority of the league, the Cavs are sitting pretty at 41-11. They are currently 22-3 at home and have ripped off 11 W’s in a row. They are rolling even without the services of two of the most important guards on the team: Delonte West and Mo Williams. (more…)

Ken Berger of CBSSports.com recently posted a column that dove further into the possibility of Boston Celtics veteran guard Ray Allen going to a new home.
A number of teams have been discussed in possible trade scenarios, as the Chicago Bulls are in the mix to get some cap relief, while also acquiring some talent to help them continue their playoff push.
The Celtics feel the same way. (more…)
