With reports surfacing that Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin could miss extensive time with a patella injury, the light that has been shining on Martin’s dunks and aggressive play all season, could soon be shining on the man with the big hair.
That’s right, folks, while it’s due to unfortunate circumstances, “The Bird Man” could begin to see some well-deserved minutes, as Martin rests for the next 48 hours and decides on how to treat his injury. (more…)

We knew New Orleans’ rookie guard Marcus Thornton had some game.
Analysts all over were marveling over what a steal he was when the Hornets got him with a second-round pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, and after some solid early season games, everyone who backed him coming out of LSU felt vindicated.
But now they really can say “I told you so” to any of Thornton’s doubters. (more…)

Fresh off a big trade, Washington Wizards’ forward Josh Howard is already waving good-bye to his new team.
The star forward went down in Monday night’s game with a knee injury, which is now being reported as a torn ACL, effectively putting an end to his short run with his new team.
Howard performed well in just four games with the Wizards, picking up his feeble average of 12 points per game with Dallas to over 14 points per game, including his last game, where he was only able to log eight minutes due to his injury. (more…)

Chris Duhon should have seen the writing on the wall when head coach Mike D’Antoni benched him in favor of shooting guard Nate Robinson about a week ago.
Duhon, a natural point guard, got benched for a guy with very little point guard skills, no size, and a shoot-first mentality.
That alone should tell you what D’Antoni thinks of Duhon. (more…)

Statistics-wise, Vince Carter is coming off perhaps his worst month of play since he’s been in the NBA.
During January, the artist formerly known as “Air Canada” averaged just about nine points per game on horrible 28 percent shooting from the field.
However, he’s taken his performance up several notches so far in February. (more…)

A big-time injury has opened the door for a pair of rookies eager to step into the spotlight, while another first-year player has been making the most of his team’s free-wheeling style of play.
In addition to the players listed in this column, snatch up Mike Miller and Carlos Delfino if they’re still available, and keep your eye on J.J. Redick: (more…)
This is turning out to be the “year of the rookie” as several rookies, outside of Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings, have really made names for themselves and carved niche’s in their respective team’s rotations.
With that said, it’s our suggestion that you continue to monitor the likes of Taj Gibson, Chase Budinger, DeJaun Blair, Jonas Jerekbo, and Marcus Thornton. Those, among others, have been playing stellar (but not quite great) basketball, as they’ve received solid minutes and are slowly, but surely, climbing up the fantasy ranks.
For a look at some other guys who are seeing their value rise, as well as a few who are clearly declining in their play, read on: (more…)

For six years, Kris Humphries has been trying to lie-up to being selected as the 14th pick in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft.
And until a trade sent him to the New Jersey Nest from the Dallas Mavericks, he had been failing miserably.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean it was a testament to his work ethic or lack of an ability. It simply showed how deep the teams were that Humphries was on, and that playing time was sparse. (more…)
